House. Click here to review the poll's findings.
The results show:
- Great depth of support for North Carolina's public universities. 93% of respondents voiced confidence in state universities, and 58% said they have "a great deal of confidence" in state universities.
- Broad distaste for the cuts to the University contemplated in the House budget. 73% of voters -- and 65% of Republicans -- said they oppose the 15.5% cut in the House proposal.
- And broad public support for extending a temporary sales tax that is currently scheduled to expire June 30. 78% of voters -- and 73% of Republicans -- said they support keeping the sales tax in place if it helps limit cuts to K-12 public schools, community colleges and universities.
